Closed system for washing water for surface treatment

Japan/Hasama Ricoh

At Hasama Ricoh, where precision press parts and precision molds are designed and manufactured, waste liquid from the washing process is recycled and reused.

All the water used in the washing process of painted parts and precision press parts was treated as waste liquid until 1998, when a closed system was built for all waste liquid from the washing process. By use of an ion exchange treatment, waste liquid is regenerated into pure water and reused as washing water. The closed system for cleaning water reduces the amount of tap water used by approximately 60,000 m3 per year, reducing costs for both tap water use and wastewater treatment.
