News Release Ricoh to construct new manufacturing facility in Japan to accelerate growth of its inkjet business Combining Ricoh's strengths in ultra-precision manufacturing with automation, logistics innovation and AI to create a next-generation factory

TOKYO, September 18, 2026 – Ricoh Company, Ltd. today announced plans to construct a new facility at its Atsugi Manufacturing Site in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, to accelerate the growth of its inkjet business and strengthen its supply capabilities to meet growing demand for high-quality inkjet heads. Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2026, with completion planned for the first half of fiscal 2028.

As a core manufacturing hub for Ricoh's inkjet business, the new facility will provide the capacity to more than double current inkjet head production over time. By combining Ricoh's strengths in ultra-precision manufacturing and quality engineering with automation, AI and digital manufacturing*1 technologies, the company will build a next-generation manufacturing platform designed to deliver high quality, productivity and supply reliability.

In industrial printing*2 applications such as sign and display graphics, labels and packaging, and textiles, the transition from conventional analog printing to digital printing continues to accelerate, driven by growing demand for greater product variety, shorter production runs, faster turnaround times and reduced environmental impact. At the same time, the use of high-precision inkjet technologies is expanding into functional printing*3 applications, including printed electronics, batteries and automotive coatings. To address these growing opportunities and respond flexibly to long-term demand, Ricoh is strengthening its production and supply capabilities for inkjet heads, a core component of inkjet technology.

For decades, Ricoh has developed and manufactured high-performance inkjet heads by leveraging its expertise in ultra-precision manufacturing and materials technologies. Producing inkjet heads requires micron-level precision, and the expertise and know-how of highly skilled technicians play a critical role in maintaining and continuously improving product quality. Building on this foundation, the new facility will consolidate manufacturing functions currently distributed across multiple buildings at the Atsugi Manufacturing Site and introduce automated production lines and robotics capable of flexibly producing a wide range of products, enabling high levels of productivity and operational flexibility.

Ricoh will also capture and digitize the expertise and know-how of its skilled technicians and use AI to apply this knowledge in production and quality decision-making. This combination of human expertise and AI will help preserve and transfer valuable manufacturing expertise to future generations, enable employees to focus on higher value-added activities and support the consistent delivery of high-quality products.

In addition, Ricoh will digitally connect production equipment, quality management and logistics operations. Combined with automated material handling, this integrated approach will optimize the flow of materials and information throughout the factory, enabling Ricoh to respond flexibly to changing demand while supporting the rapid and reliable delivery of high-quality products.

Through the new facility, Ricoh will strengthen its ability to reliably supply high-quality inkjet heads while supporting customers' growth and further expanding its inkjet business.
