I highly evaluate Ricoh's creation of the 2050 vision. But can it really be implemented?
(Corporate Environment Manager)
As specific goals for achieving the Year 2050 Long-Term Environmental Vision, we created in March 2009 the Mid- and Long-term Environmental Impact Reduction Goals in three fields: energy saving and global warming mitigation, resource conservation and recycling, and pollution prevention. The goal is to reduce environmental impact by 87.5% in all three fields. We also made mid-term goals using 2020 as the standard year. These target figures will be included in an environmental action plan to be implemented for every three-year period, and we plan to take effective measures aimed at achieving our targets.
In your fiscal 2007 report, Ricoh noted an increase in its CO 2 emissions volume, citing an increase in production as the cause. I couldn't understand the part between this statement and the explanation about how Ricoh is working toward its target. I wished that it was explained in a more easy-to-follow manner. Manufacturers are facing extremely tough challenges to reducing emission volume while boosting production volume. So I am hoping to learn from Ricoh's policies and efforts because they would be great examples.
(Corporate Environment Manager)
We made revisions to the explanatory chart, and made it easier to categorize items such as CO2 reduction through self-efforts such as production process innovation and CDM preparation to prepare for the risk in increased CO 2 volume. Due to this change, you can see a 9.6% reduction (in Japan) in actual terms compared with fiscal 1990. We also noted as reference figures the movements of the CO 2 emissions basic sales unit.
Because of problems concerning fake-recycled paper in Japan, I'd like to know about Ricoh's efforts at making eco-friendly paper.
(Public administator)
We would like to report on our response to the falsification of ratios of recycled paper used in various products. We confirmed that we could assure quality of recycled paper, including the ratio of recycled paper used, through our own audit categories, and began selling recycled paper (including 100% recycled paper) in April 2009.

It would have been nice if there the report mentioned the feelings of employees engaged in environmental activities in their day-to-day work.
(Other: Visiting counselor)
We included the "Voice of employees" under two themes: Feature Article: Sustainable Environmental Management Network, and the promotion of the Ricoh Group's new corporate environmental management. Many other feature articles are based on direct interviews with group firm employees.
I think it was very well done. Personally, I would like the report to focus on waste and water, in addition to CO 2.
(Environmental Specialist)
We mentioned numerous examples and achievements of our waste and emissions management in our "Resource Conservation and Recycling" pages concerning our products and business activities. In our "Resource Conservation and Recycling" pages concerning our business activities, we introduce our water usage and gave examples of the first zero-wastewater discharge factory in China.

I was very interested in your Global Eco Action. I knew that Ricoh had been developing business worldwide, but I was very interested in the fact that roughly 46,000 people in 38 nations worldwide participated in environmental conservation activities. I am hoping to engage in work that considers the global environment and enrich the lives of everyone on Earth. After reading this article, I reaffirmed that this is what I want to do with my life.

When I was younger, I had thought that Ricoh founder Kiyoshi Ichimura's management spirit was unique. But as I got older, I become more and more impressed, realizing that it is actually difficult to achieve.
(65-year-old head of steel mill).
After reading this report thoroughly, I thought about telling my employees to read this, too.
