Player

Date

Anotation : Naofumi Minami
translated by Takeshi Miyao <http://www.ccsi.com/~miyao>

My opponent, Mr. Kobayashi, is a very strong player, who has beaten some Pros successively and has been printed in a magazine.

This is my first time to play him as an official game, but I have never defeated him even in any unofficial ones. I lead this game to Yodohuribisha(Yodo Ranging Rook) strategy which is my favorite tactics.

19. S-3h was
the move Mr. Tajiri taught me, who belonged to Ricoh, even though my favorite move was G-3h because S-3h might lose a tempo. Consequently, it seemed to be the cause of victory.

20. S-2b was
the move I did not like to do, even if some players actually did. It should be K-2b even though the sequence P-6e, P-2e might be unpleasant.

21. P-5e was
the only move in this situation. Any dan would consider this move, but any kyu might not. This feeling may be the difference between dan and kyu players.

27. P*4e was
the move which I considered long. I tried to keep my good position by this move, even if the situation was still close. The alternative was S-5f.

35. R-5d was
a dubious move. The sequence R-5a, G*5b, Rx6a, Gx6a, P-3e was better.

44. G*4a was
a losing move to him. The pawn at 3f should have been utilized effectively at this stage.

47. P*3d.
I confirmed my win by this move.

53. Bx4e was
the move by which I set up a brinkmate while I escaped my sudden death.

From 54. P-3c+,
it was a forced mate.

I felt this was a satisfactory game to me. Our team Ricoh beat Process Material by 4-1 including my win, however, we were defeated by Algorithm Kenkyusho by 2-3 (I also lost). Our team could not proceed to the final.

The team which won the championship at the last SHOKUDAN-SEN S-Class League could not proceed to the final in these two meetings successively. This fact showed that the strength of S-Class teams were very close. Next time, we'd like to try our best.
