Ricoh Belgium supports the WaSH programme of Unicef Belgium that provides clean water, sanitary facilities and hygiene for children in West Africa.
Two fundraising projects launched in December 2009 to support the programme. The money was collected by employees preparing and selling hot-dogs and mulled wine one day in December and freshly squeezed orange juice from December until March to colleagues in the office. With winter approaching and the threat of flu and colds, the idea of selling fresh orange juice as a source of vitamin C, with the profits going to Unicef Belgium, became quickly very popular amongst the employees.
It takes €8 to provide a child in West Africa with fresh drinking water for the whole year. The total of €2,000 raised by Ricoh is enough to provide 250 children with clean drinking water for a year through the Unicef WaSH programme.
Both actions were initiated and executed by Ricoh Belgium employees and have had a huge success in the organisation.
