Skew Correction Technology
| Skew correction technology detects and compensates for the inclination angle of a document image. The angle of the proper document image is estimated from the line and the row of character strings and other parameters that exist in the document. This technology is sometimes used independently or as pre-processing for OCR. |

Distortion Correction Technology |
| When scanning a document or book double spread, the spread may be warped or black, rendering it unusable. Our bookbinding manuscript distortion correction technology corrects such warped scanning images into a neat image for easy reading. High-resolution correction is made possible by page contour, row information of the character strings and other parameters. Correction is made not only for geometrical distortion but also for bright and dimmed characters, making the characters in the dark spread readable.
Image examples before and after corrections are shown below.

Show-through Effect Correction Technology
| When a double-sided document is scanned, characters and on the reverse side are sometimes picked up. Our show-through effect correction technology corrects the scanned image to eliminate show-through without special devices or operator intervention. It is all done by personal computer software.
Please refer to the following for more details of the technology. H. Nishida and T. Suzuki, "Correcting show-through effects on document images by multiscale analysis," in Proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (Quebec City,Canada), August 11-15, 2002, vol. III, pp. 65-68.

Skew Correction Technology

When a photo is taken from the side, skew results. Our technology automatically detects trapezoids in your images and corrects them to rectangles so your pictures appear as though shot from the straight on. The technology is effective in environments where blackboards, information boards, time schedules, and signboards cannot be shot straight on. Ricoh's Caplio digital camera series has this convenient feature.
