Features of RICOH Smart Device Connector

RICOH Smart Device Connector allows users to use machine functions from a smart device.

Store Machine Settings in and Transfer Them to a Smart Device

  • You can use your smart device to configure a machine without using the control panel of the machine. Storing pre-configured settings in your smart device allows you to apply the settings without operating the control panel of the machine.

  • You can save your preferences for each function as a "Favorites", which can be easily recalled and applied to a machine.

Use the Address Book of a Smart Device for the Fax and Scanner Functions

  • You can use the address book of your smart device to specify the destination when using the fax and scanner functions.

  • You do not have to register destinations in the address book of a machine.

Save Scanned Data to a Smart Device

  • You can save the data scanned on a machine to your smart device or in the cloud. Scanned data can be saved as a JPEG or PDF file.

  • A list and preview of the data stored in a smart device can be viewed in RICOH Smart Device Connector.

Print E-mails, Web Pages, Photos and Documents Stored in a Smart Device or in the Cloud

  • You can print documents and photos that are stored in your smart device or in the cloud on a machine.

    Note

    • When a Microsoft Office file is printed, the layout of the file may be corrupted.

    • For details about the supported files, see Supported File Format.

  • You can select and print one or more photos at a time.

  • You can print e-mails attachments under registered e-mail accounts.

  • You can print Web pages displayed using the web browser.

Play Video Files on a Smart Device or in the Cloud

  • You can play video files stored on your smart device or in the cloud.

  • You can play videos via AirPlay-compatible devices.

Display Files on Projectors

  • You can display documents and photos that are stored in your smart device or in the cloud with the projector.

  • You can directly project scanned data with the projector without saving the data in your smart device.

  • The same data file can be simultaneously displayed on up to four projectors.

  • You can use the projector to project e-mails and attachments under registered e-mail accounts.

  • You can use the projector to project Web pages displayed using the web browser.

You can link with the whiteboard

  • You can display files that are stored on your smart device or in the cloud on RICOH Interactive Whiteboard.

  • You can save the screen shot of RICOH Interactive Whiteboard on your smart device.

  • You can print the screen image of RICOH Interactive Whiteboard.

  • You can directly display the scanned data on RICOH Interactive Whiteboard without temporarily saving the data in a folder or on a smart device.

  • You can display on RICOH Interactive Whiteboard e-mails and attachments under registered e-mail accounts.

  • You can display on RICOH Interactive Whiteboard Web pages displayed using the web browser.

Use Files in Box /Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive/RICOH Smart Integration

  • You can browse the files that are stored in Box /Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive. Also, you can print or project the file you are browsing.

  • You can download and upload files from/to Box /Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive.

Access Web Image Monitor from a Smart Device

  • You can access Web Image Monitor of a machine from your smart device and check the machine status.

Note

  • If the smart device is connected to the Internet through a proxy in an intranet, this application may not be able to connect to Web Image Monitor.

  • If this occurs, modify the related settings such as the exception setting in the proxy management file or MDM to rectify the network environment.

  • Some functions in Web Image Monitor may not work correctly.

Configure User Authentication

  • You can restrict users who can access the machine from this application by enabling user authentication (basic authentication) and registering user names and passwords.

  • To allow unregistered users to access the machine, create a guest account.

  • User code authentication can only be used with the printer function. User authentication (basic authentication) can be used for all functions of the printer, scanner, fax and copier.

Configure a Passcode

  • You can configure RICOH Smart Device Connector so that only those who enter a passcode can use it.

You can log in to devices by using your smart device

When operating the machine for which the user authentication is specified, you can log in to the machine without entering the user name and password by tapping the smart device to its operation panel.

To use this function on an MFP/printer, configure the following settings on the Smart Operation Panel side:

  • Enable the Quick Card Authentication function and install Bluetooth Authentication Plugin.

  • Enable the Bluetooth function. See Enabling Bluetooth.

  • Enable [Allow Bluetooth Connection] on Smart Device Connector. See Configuring the QR Code.

Configuring Permission Settings

You can configure whether or not to allow access to smart device applications and files.

If a message confirming connection to a smart device application appears while using RICOH Smart Device Connector, tap [OK] and follow the displayed instructions.

The uses of the displayed items are as follows:

  • Photo: Access to albums, etc.

  • Bluetooth: Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) authentication

  • Camera: Scanning QR codes, etc.

  • Location Data: Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) authentication
