[Question] How to operate the target shift.

This feature will allow you to shift the target for AE (auto exposure) and/or AF (auto focus) without moving the camera. It will be useful when taking a picture with a tripod.

Available options Description
AE / AF AE and AF are set to Spot AE and Spot AF respectively and the target can be moved for both simultaneously (The targets for Spot AE and Spot AF occupy the same position).
AF The AF is set to Spot AF and the target can be moved. The exposure metering is set to the mode selected in [Exposure Metering] in the shooting menu.
AE The AE is set to Spot AE and the target can be moved. The focus is set to the mode selected in [Focus] in the shooting menu.

Operating procedures

Press the [ADJ./MEMO] button in a shooting mode or the CALS mode.
Press the ADJ./MEMO button.
Press Left or right button, then choose the target shift icon.

Press Up or down button to choose an option, and press the MENU/OK button to fix the setting.

The target shift screen will be displayed.
Move the target symbol (cross cursor) with Up, down Left, right buttons to the position where you'd like to target exposure or focus.
If you want to cancel, press the DISP. button.

Press the [MENU/OK] button, or the [ADJ./MEMO] button.
    
6   Press the shutter release button half way to focus the subject. Then press the shutter release all the way down.

  When [AE] is selected, the spot AE position and focus frame(s) are displayed.
  When [AF] is selected, the spot AF position is displayed.
  When [AE/AF] is selected, the position for spot AE and spot AF is displayed.

[Memo]

  In the SCENE mode, if macro is On, the AE/AF target icon changes to the Macro target icon. The macro target can be shifted instead of the AE/AF target.
  AE/AF target shift feature is unavailable when [Focus] is set to [MF].
