Quality and size are adjusted to produce photographs suitable to be submitted as official public works pictures.
CALS mode

As the default setting, [CALS Pic Quality] is set to [1M] 4:3 N (Normal image quality, 1280 x 960 pixels, with a file size of about 363 KB) to conform to the Japanese standard of official public works photographs, which requires that images be 1 mega pixel with a file size of 500 KB or less.
