[Question] How can I make it display the information when the picture display is OFF.

The [Info Disp] setting is useful when you want to display the information only without an image in the picture display, such as when using the external viewfinder.
When the
[Info Disp] is set to [On], the information is displayed in the following cases.
  • When the [Self-timer] button or [Macro] button is pressed.
  • When the mode dial setting is switched.
  • When the up-down dial is roated.
  • When the ADJ. lever is pressed to the left or right during manual exposure mode.
  • When either of the [AF/MF], [AF/Snap], [JPEG>RAW], [Color>B&W], or [Color>TE] is set in [Function button] and the Fn button is pressed.
  • When the Flash open switch is pressed to open the flash.

The information display disappears and the picture display turns off again in the following cases.

  • When nothing is operated for several seconds, after the information is displayed
  • When the shutter release button is half-pressed

See the camera user guide, page 177 for the details on the Info Disp setting.

[Note]
  • Regardless of the [Info Disp] setting, a menu appears when the ADJ. lever or the Menu/OK button is pressed, even if the picture display is turned off.
  • Regardless of the [Info Disp] setting, the picture display turns on if you operate either of the following, even if the picture display is turned off.
    • When you press the ADJ. lever, Menu/OK button, DISP. button, or Playback button.
    • When you press the Zoom button except when the Zoom button setting is OFF.
    • When you press the Up/Down arrow button during manual focus.
    • When you press the Mode button in the Scene mode.
  • Level indicator will not displayed when you set the display off, even if you set the level setting to [Display] or [Disp + Snd].
