City in Winter

Shot : CX3 ●1/17sec. ●F4.3 ●ISO1600 ●EV0.7 ●WB:AUTO
Special techniques used
This is a photo of a scene taken from an apartment building somewhere in Germany. This location provided the perfect angle for viewing the train tracks, so I just sat and waited for the train to come. This streetscape scene was nice enough as is, but I was able to get a cute little shot by using the Miniature mode.
Functions used
I shot the photo using Miniature mode and Zoom. I also included the date on the photo, so I could keep it as a memento of my trip overseas.

Santa Capilla de Caracas

Shot : GX200 ●1/15sec. ●F2.9 ●ISO200 ●EV0.0 ●WB:MANUAL
Special techniques used
I use the Ricoh GX200 as a secondary camera for just over a year and am very satisfied with the results provided to ISO 64 and 100. I love the ergonomics and the possibility of using an electronic viewfinder that provides very complete information, making it easier to keep me in the line of professional photographic work and quality. An excellent camera, no doubt.
Functions used
Contrary to my usual work in the Ricoh GX200 with 64 or 100 ISO speeds, this time using ISO 200 because of low ambient light.
Continuing with manual exposure control under the histogram, I used a low speed (1 / 15 sec) and aperture f/2.9, always placed at a diagonal angle of incident light.
The result of this series of photographs about the Catholic church called Santa Capilla de Caracas is the image with large shadows and high rank in the range of grays.
Santa Capilla de Caracas is also an example of the conjunction of human devotion and the strength of religious icons.

Drops of water on a leaf captured in Closeup mode

Shot : GX200 ●1/100sec. ●F4.4 ●ISO64 ●EV0.0 ●WB:AUTO
Special techniques used
Taking closeup shots on the wide-angle side is interesting, too, but when I have extra time available, I like to try and get closeup shots on the telephoto side.
It's pretty nice being able to save settings for closeups with the telephoto side in My Settings.
The focus for closeups on the telephoto lens side is extremely exacting. Once the focus has been set, I move the camera back and forth and make slight adjustments until I've gotten it to focus on the objects I really want to take pictures of.
Functions used
I took this picture using Closeup mode.
Using photo retouching software, I decreased the brightness and applied unsharp masking processing.

Cat captured using the 'Pets' Scene Mode

Shot : CX3 ●1/36sec. ●F3.7 ●ISO383 ●EV0.0 ●WB:AUTO
Special techniques used
I wanted to capture a more natural expression, so I lowered the camera and moved it in so I would be as close to eye level to my sleeping pet (cat) as possible, and then I quickly shot the picture.
Functions used
I shot this picture using "Pets" selected from Scene Mode.
I was able to turn off sound, the flash, etc., all in one step, which enabled me to get a quick shot of the unguarded expression of the sleeping cat without the cat knowing about it both extremely easily and speedily.

Town of Chichibu shot using the 'Miniaturize' Scene Mode

Shot : CX3 ●1/1070sec. ●F3.5 ●ISO161 ●EV1.0 ●WB:AUTO
Special techniques used
I was looking out over the town from the top of what is actually a rather tall bridge, the Harp Bridge of Chichibu. Even with the naked eye, the town looks like a little miniature, but by shooting the picture with the Miniaturize function, I was able to achieve a sense like I really was shooting a picture from the world of fairy tales.
Functions used
I took this picture using the Miniaturize in Scene Mode.

Milk crown captured in High-Speed Continuous Shooting mode.

Shot : CX2 ●1/710sec. ●F4.8 ●ISO400 ●EV0.0 ●WB:MANUAL
Special techniques used
I secured the camera to a tripod and also set the focus.
All I had to do after that was to get the milk to splash in the place I wanted.
Using the cable switch really came in handy because then the camera didn't shake.
It would seem that getting the hang of trying to create a nice milk crown is harder than trying to shoot the picture at the right moment.
Functions used
High-Speed Continuous Shooting (Hi) mode

Shot : GR DIGITAL III ●1/40sec. ●F1.9 ●ISO200 ●EV0.0 ●WB:AUTO
Special techniques used
When pictures are taken in B&W mode, if taken in RAW format, color data is also recorded, which helps out a lot. ;)
I took the one recorded in color and turned the WB to Incandescent using software that came with the camera to pull out a bluish hue.
I stood so that my reflection was reflected in the water flowing along the side of the field and took the picture, being conscious of the grass also reflected in the water.
It was evening when I took these pictures, and I feel like the F1.9 capability really saved me.

Shot : CX3 ●1sec. ●F3.5 ●ISO200 ●EV0.0 ●WB:MANUAL
Special techniques used
At first, I shot pictures in Nightscape mode, but I couldn't get the camera to focus right. So, just to try it out, I set the Focus ∞ setting and was able to get some great photos.
I also tried out different White Balance settings, and Cloudy was the one that seemed best suited for my pictures.
In order to reduce shaking, I took pictures with the camera resting on the window sill.
Functions used
Noise Reduction at MAX, White Balance set to Cloudy, Focus at ∞. Flash OFF. I used a monopod to take the picture from through the window on the 24th floor of the building.

Sun shot from under powerlines

Shot : GXR S10 ●1/2000sec. ●F9.1 ●ISO400 ●EV0.0 ●WB:AUTO
Special techniques used
I intended to add some grain (noise) and the best highest ISO I could go was 400 with f at 9(max) and shutter speed at 2000(max). I still needed to get another stop down to get the correct exposure which was done at PP with Photoshop along with adding contrast with curve tool and adding fine noise with Unsharp Mask.
Functions used
I used GXR S10 with wide angle lens converter. It is very snappy and a joy to use.

The GR Digital is one of my all-time favourite cameras. Its superb lens continues to amaze me. I am hoping Ricoh will consider bringing back the GR1-series film cameras so that photographers who enjoy the GR's small footprint would have two forms of media to choose from.
