The techniques I used when shooting this photo were to get really close to the subject and to take care to avoid camera shake. I was able to leave the exposure up to the camera.

I took this photo of the Colosseum of Rome using a fisheye lens attached to the GR DIGITAL adapter. It looks like the real thing, but it was actually taken at Tobu World Square in Nikko.

The contrast of the concrete tetrapods was interesting, so I shot it in black and white...

Since the bottom and side surfaces on the GX-200 are flat and rigid, it's easy to stabilize the camera without a tripod by resting it on a wall or object.
Setting the ISO at a low level and stabilizing the camera using an object seems to work better for achieving fine image quality than using the ISO Auto setting and shooting handheld for photos such as night shots.

I tried shooting a series of photos of my friend's golf swing using S-Cont. Since the monitor goes blank during shooting, I have no idea what is being captured. I used a golf club as a monopod to stabilize the camera during shooting.

The R4 is so easy to use that it is suitable for almost all types of photography. Unfortunately, the flash intensity is low just like most other compact cameras. I think the range of photography could be expanded if it were possible to attach an external flash like the GX. Next time I will consider buying a GX.

I adjusted the sensitivity and exposure in order to slow down the shutter speed and capture the appearance of the water surface with raindrops falling on it.
Also, I tried to compose the shot so that the viewer would be drawn in to the center of the image by using the 1:1 mode.

Actually, there was algae and all kinds of other stuff floating on the surface of the water in the background. I avoided letting the background get too cluttered by using the tele-macro mode to blur it and capturing the sunset reflected in the water.
Using a tele-conversion lens is helpful because it allows me to control the look of the background.
The upgraded macro function on this camera is absolutely unrivaled in my opinion.

I took this blue-tinted shot of the ocean with a super wide angle and the incandescent mode for WB. I placed a person at the side of the frame.

I attached the GW-6 and changed the WB.

The cat wouldn't look at the camera at first, so I tried talking to it about all sorts of things while pressing the shutter over and over again.

I wanted to make the cat look big, so I zoomed all the way in on the telephoto side (without using the digital zoom), and set the exposure compensation to +0.7 to enhance the color of the cat's white fur.

This camera is a lot bulkier than the current R series, but it's easy to hold steady and produces surprisingly little camera shake. It reproduces colors that are really true to life.

By lining up the camera lens in a straight line with billboard lighting and a semi-transparent fountain, it's possible to make a fountain look as if it's sparkling. It can be tricky because long exposures are not suitable for shooting fountains at night. When the exposure isn't right, the water droplets from the fountain aren't visible and the photo comes out looking like a sheet of glass without any dimension.

Using the maximum F2.4 setting on the GRD2 makes it possible to take handheld shots of night scenes.

The exposure can be set at 8 seconds, so it's a good idea to attach the camera to a tripod and find something to cover the lens with - even a small bowl will work.

I stuck the lens right inside the lotus flower and tried to get as close as possible to the bees. I can't let fear of bees keep me from photographing them. To prevent the flower from looking dark due to lens shadow, I purposely took the photo in the morning so that the light would shine on it from the side.

I used the macro function to photograph these bees gathering on a lotus flower that opened at sunrise.

The R8's large, clear image display makes focusing easy. I was able to see the subject clearly and avoid blurring when composing the shot.

I was experimenting with the macro functions on my new R8. By utilizing the auto bracket function, I was able to bring out the whiteness of this small cabbage white butterfly. The R8 has exceeded my expectations for a compact digital camera. I'm really pleased with the sharp focus and vivid colors it offers.

Instead of taking a regular photo showing my son's face, I wanted to try taking a photo that portrayed a sense of his existence.

I didn't use any special techniques, but I wanted to express the scene in black-and-white. Also, the 24 mm wide angle was useful for this photo because I shot it inside a small compartment on a Ferris wheel.

I had a terrible time trying to focus the shot in the pitch darkness.
I wanted to take a photo of a firefly that showed not only the firefly's glow, but also the firefly itself. I got the idea of using a penlight to illuminate the subject indirectly and also to focus the shot.
I couldn't check the shots very well after shooting them in the dark, so I just took lot of shots.

I tried using a tripod for the first time to take this photo of a firefly. I shot it using the interval shooting (5 sec) setting .
The focus was reset automatically every time I turned the camera off even though I saved it in My Settings, so it was really hard to focus the shot.

Using this function resulted in more camera shake than I had expected. Since I didn't have my tripod with me at the time, I tried leaning my elbow against a telephone pole and setting the camera on top of a signboard in order to avoid camera shake.

This shot was my first attempt at using a long exposure time (1 second). I used this function because I wanted to try to capture the atmosphere of the festival at night.

It reminds me of when I rode in a taxi in the middle of the rainy season.

This shot was taken indoors at a cafe. Although the lights were bright, I first focused on the glass and pressed the shutter release button halfway, and then moved the camera slightly before pressing the shutter release button all the way down. I was surprised when I checked the display and saw that the light outside came out a nice shade of green, and the cell phone was a deep shade of red. The water droplets also came out very clearly. I'm really pleased with this shot.

I took this photo of the Eiffel Tower and a water flea figure from aboard a sightseeing boat on the Seine. For no particular reason, I carry a water flea figure with me when I travel. It was difficult to focus on the water flea using macro shooting without the camera shaking on board the rocking boat, at night (F2.5, 1/15 sec.), and holding the camera in one hand.

This is not a composite picture. Since I was holding the figure in my left hand and the camera in my right hand, I used multi-shot mode to avoid the camera shake that occurs when the button is pressed. The photo has been cropped.

I took this photo using only the light from below. It looks a little scary, but I feel it's an accurate representation of the outstanding capabilities of the GR in terms of lens brightness and reproduction of color tone. I was really pleased to discover this excellent camera because it allows me to use the light in different ways to take various kinds of night shots.

This is henbit, a weed that can usually be seen all over the place. But it looks so beautiful in this photo. When you shoot it using the Caplio R7, you'll definitely change your mind about this flower.
In the instant I glanced at this flower, I saw a rabbit. When I zoomed in, I was able to se the ears of the rabbit. The macro functions have opened up a whole new world for me by allowing me to see things that aren't visible to the naked eye.

I want others to experience the potential of the Caplio R7 macro functions.

Even though the sunlight was strong, I fired the flash to make the fish look brighter. Thanks to the camera, the highlights didn't get blown out even though it was a macro shot.

I went fishing with my teacher. I managed to get a great photo of him bringing up a huge fish as big as a sea bream... Well, it looks that way, but actually the fish was only about 15 cm long. I told my teacher to stretch out his arm and I shot it in tele macro. If you compare his right hand to his left hand, you can probably imagine how much the fish has been magnified.

I cropped this shot of a Persian speedwell using the camera. I mainly use a focal length of 85 mm for macro shots. (It's effective both in terms of magnification and image distortion.)

My camera is an R8.
I finally bought my first digital camera. The macro functions are outstanding. The clarity of the LCD makes it's easy to check images.

This is a photo of Emerald Beach in Okinawa. I shot it using a fisheye lens attached with a GR DIGITAL adapter. It really shows off the beautiful color of the ocean in Okinawa.

An interval timer is essential for attaching the camera to a kite and taking pictures of the ground from up in the sky. Ricoh is my favorite brand of camera because the shutter can go off every 5 seconds. I've had a Caplio GX8, Caplio R3, GR DIGITAL, and I recently bought a Caplio GX100.

Color bracketing allows you to change the color when shooting. The trick to taking black-and-white photos is to search for something shiny.

This is my first time using a Ricoh digital camera. I was surprised at how clear the shots turn out for macro and other types of photography. I use F1:1 for the picture quality mode. I love this square format.

When it's sunny, I try to shade the camera and compose the shot so that light doesn't hit the lens.

The image sharpness is simply fantastic.

This square format world brings out my girlish side.

I'm glad that this camera takes regular batteries. I was able to use it as soon as I took it out of the box.
I bought this camera because my husband told me it would be ideal for taking low-angle shots. I feel as if I've entered an exciting new world!

I still haven't gotten the knack of using this camera (ha ha), but I feel the photos generally seem to come out better when I don't use the flash.

I'm a beginner at using digital cameras.
Actually, I think this is the first time I've ever actually laid hands on one. I certainly still have a lot to learn about cameras, but I bought this one because I was really impressed by how clear its macro photos turn out.

There are two My Settings functions that I find come in really handy .
First, for super high image quality I use the ISO 80 and RAW settings when I want to take my time with a shot.
Second, for quick shooting I raise the sensitivity to ISO 400 so I can shoot instantly without getting any blurriness.
For ISO 80, its hard to shoot in dark places so I always carry a tiny tripod with me in addition to my camera.

This camera is really easy to use because the dial makes it possible to change the ISO, exposure compensation, white balance, image size, and other settings instantly.
I can also customize the camera with my own favorite settings, so I no longer have to miss photo opportunities.

Since I don't really know how to operate a camera or take photos, I'm still in the learning phase. I can't seem to understand the concepts mentally, so I've taken the more physical and experimental approach of taking the camera into my own hands and using it to take pictures by carefully imitating the methods and shooting styles shown here in the "laboratory" reports.

I chose the R7 because I wanted to take close-ups of flowers and I heard that it's ideal for macro shots.

A digital camera with an interval timer is essential for aerial photography that is taken by attaching the camera to a kite and taking pictures of the ground from up in the sky. That's the reason I always use Ricoh digital cameras. I've owned a GX8, R3, and GRD in that order.

This is an aerial photograph of Nishi Nagisa in Kasai Rinkai Park. The wake from the back of the boat and the contours of the Ferris wheel turned out very sharp. I'm fully satisfied with the level of detail I get when using the 28 mm lens on the Ricoh GRD.

I took this photo at a dinosaur park in Thailand. I took advantage of the wide angle and shot it against the sun. I plan to continue experimenting to see how much light should be blocked out to compose a nice shot.

I'm having trouble with strobe shooting.

Ever since I got my R7, I take it with me everywhere I go and I usually take photos that are slightly underexposed.
The noise caused by high sensitivity is less obvious, and I feel the undexposure actually provides an interesting atmosphere that I can use as an advantage.

Since I started using the R7, I realized what a wide range of use this camera has. Although the zoom is a little noisy, it's a really fun camera to play around with. It would be great if the lens were a little brighter (compared to F2.8).

A beautiful scene taken through frosted glass.

Since this camera is so easy to operate with one hand, I can take lots of quick snapshots.

I used the macro function for this photo.

This camera is an well designed model geared toward camera buffs, but I wish Ricoh would improve its exterior finish and LCD. I'm not sure how well the camera shake correction feature works. The exposure for flash photography is a joke!
Other than that, I'm happy with it. Perhaps these improvements have already been made with the current R6 model.

I made the color depth a little deeper.
The photo was taken from Asakusa Yanagibashi.
This building looked so beautiful undulating in Kandagawa River. It looked just like an oil painting.

I got rid of my digital SLR and bought a GX100 since I had been wanting one for a while. Since then, I've been going all over the place taking photos. I'm really pleased with the camera. Will Ricoh be coming out with a teleconverter for it?
The sound of the zoom is a little bothersome.

It takes a little ingenuity to minimize blown-out highlights when shooting in areas with high contrast. (I guess that's obvious.)

This is a scene of the water market in Thailand. The camera has a wide angle of view, so I was able to fit a lot of elements into one shot which really expresses the vitality of the scene. I can take great shots hand-held with this camera. Since it's small, I find this camera really useful.

I don't use any special techniques, but it's useful to be able to check the intensity of the light on the large screen each time I change the shutter speed when shooting.

Since I mostly shoot night scenes, I really appreciate having full manual settings in this class of camera.

I've started taking more macro shots since I purchased a GX100. Since I can use the telephoto side as well, I can take macro shots of subjects that are a little further away, like the flower in this photo that is sticking out of the water. This makes photography more enjoyable. (I increased the color saturation of this photo using photo editing software.)

The GX100 has plenty of functions that can be set manually. I bought it when I realized it would be a perfect for me because I like to take my time setting the zoom and taking photos. I know it's been said before, but this camera allows you to really enjoy photography and feel good about owning it. After I started using it, I was struck by the unexpected realization that I no longer needed to worry about the cost of taking photos since the data is all digital. Also by registering functions to My Settings, I've been able to take photos more causally. I guess this means my photography style is evolving in a good way.

When taking close-ups in the rain or show, I can get some unexpected effects in photos when firing the flash.
Also you can create a shower of light like in this photo by playing with lens flare a little bit.

I think close-ups are fascinating to take because I can use unique color effects. I normally use this camera mainly to take photos of architectural models. If my shots didn't turn out so blurry, I would be completely satisfied with it. I'm sure that problem has been solved with the newer models.

I'm satisfied with this camera's macro features but I wish it had applications for tele macro.

White balance is supposed to be set to Outdoors, Cloudy, Incandescent Lamp, or Fluorescent Lamp according to the shooting location, but I think of these modes instead as color settings. In other words, if I what I see with my own eyes looks bluish in my mind , then I use the incandescent setting even though the shooting location is outdoors. Incandescent lighting is actually reddish in color, so I set it to look bluish in the photo. I like to utilize this technique in my photos. I've only been using this camera for 6 months, so it's not really a technique so to speak, but I've enjoyed taking photos more since I discovered this method.

I bought this camera on a whim because I liked its shape. When I first started using it, I was disappointed because I spent a lot of money on it but I couldn't take any decent photos (because of camera shake). I hated it. But that actually motivated me to get back to basics and try to learn more about cameras. Before I didn't have any idea what aperture or shutter speed were, but now the challenge of adjusting those elements has become fascinating to me. I take my camera out with me every day and take photos all the time. This might seem like a difficult camera for beginners, but I believe it's actually a camera that helps you understand what photography is all about.

This was the first photo I took after I bought the camera. I'm now in the process of experimenting with different settings.

I set the shutter speed to 1/2000 manually when I took this photo. Realizing that the white balance setting can be adjusted to set an interesting mood that's different from the actual color is a fascinating discovery.

The wide angle of 24 mm is really handy when shooting in small spaces. In addition, the macro features have proved to be more effective than I expected, making photography really enjoyable for me.

I've tried a lot of different settings, but I can't seem to get the exposure right when I use the strobe. I guess I have to keep working at it through trial and error.

I visited this cavern when I went to Guilin in China at the end of last year. When using the strobe in caverns, the photo turns out completely white, so I'm thankful to be able to shoot without the strobe even in dark places. This photo was taken hand-held, but I think it's acceptable for an amateur photographer. (I included the silhouettes of people on the left side of the photo to give a sense of scale to the scene..)

The AF target shift function can only be used for macro shots. I find it extremely useful when I want to move the focus away from the center of the shot.
This is an extremely effective function for breaking out of the rut of centrally focused composition.

I bought this camera because I was attracted to the 28 mm wide angle lens, but I'm actually impressed with its outstanding macro capabilities. Ever since I bought it, I've been taking mainly macro shots.
Now I'm planning to take some shots utilizing the 28 mm lens as well.

I expanded the memory with an SD card and always shoot in fine image quality mode.

This camera is slimmer and easier to carry around than previous models, so I keep it in my bag all the time.
As a result, I'm able to take advantage of every photo opportunity I encounter both for my business and hobby (landscape photography).

I set the exposure manually at 15 seconds and used the zoom lens. I rested the camera on a rail to avoid camera shake.

This camera is especially useful for taking wide-angle shots.
Also, compared with the GR series, it provides a wide range of points that can be zoomed in on which makes it handy for everyday snapshots. When I hold this camera in my hands, I feel a sense of quality and sophistication that you don't get with other compact digital cameras. I think it's a fun camera to carry around and take photos with.

The camera always shakes with kite photos, so I set the ISO sensitivity to 400 and use the scene mode to Sports. I took this photo of the fighting kites festival venue from an observation deck on Nagarkot hill in the Kathmandu Valley. Pictures of kites are drawn on the sidewalk and a swing made of four bamboo poles is constructed for the festival. It is wildly popular with girls in particular.

I've tried using other brands of cameras for kite photos, but I was told by my mentor that it's impossible when the shutter only goes off once every 30 seconds. My mentor recommended getting this camera because it has an interval timer for which the shutter goes off every 5 seconds. I was doubtful so I decided to buy one at a secondhand store. Since then I've had great fun taking aerial shots by attaching the camera to a kite with a motor that rotates 360 degrees.

I use a tripod when I take photos of night scenes and similar shots.

I like this camera because you can fit the scene into the frame even in small areas with the wide-angle lens.
