To find out the possible maximum write speed of your drive, check the manual.

If the manual of your drive tells it supports 16(8)x write speed, try the update of the firmware to the latest version.

Can you choose the drive maximum speed from your writing software?
You might also want to check if the updater is available from the writing software vender.
