Symptom

I can write on CD-R media in OS WindowsXP function but I cannot write on DVD media.

WindowsXP recording option can only write on CD discs. Writing software is necessary to write on DVD disc.

WindowsXP CD-R recording function. (DVD cannot be recorded)
[Explorer] - [Drive] - [Properties]

Check if the writing software is installed in the PC.

If you are using a DVD drive built in PC, the writing software might be preinstalled. Check your PC manual.
