Ricoh Manufacturing (Thailand) to start operations
Tokyo, Sep. 17, 2009—Ricoh Company, Ltd. (President and CEO Shiro Kondo) today announced the start of operations at Ricoh Manufacturing (Thailand) Ltd., (RMT), a 100% owned subsidiary. The plant is situated in Rayong, 150km south-east of Bangkok. The entire project was conceived in the context of the East Asian Economic Partnership and Free Trade Agreements. RMT is committed to sourcing parts and materials from local suppliers and contributing to the regional economy, as well as hiring staff from the area. Strategically the new facility will serve as a hedge against over-concentration of manufacturing in China.
Starting with laser printers, RMT has set initial production figures at 8,000 units per month.
