On October 2, the Japan Industrial Design Promotion
Organization gave its "Good Design Award 2006" to five Ricoh products, including
digital multifunction printers and a digital camera. Among the products recognized
was the imagio Toner Type C2, which received the Ecology Design Prize given
by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to the product that best embodies
eco-friendliness and effective use of resources. imagio Toner Type C2 is used
in the imagio Neo C600 series of high-speed digital color MFPs. It has a high
recycling rate due to a clever structure that enables easy refurbishing, cleaning,
and reuse. "The product is an example of good design that reflects corporate
social responsibility and sincerity," commented the Japan Industrial Design
Promotion Organization.
The attractive, triangular design of the cartridges themselves allows for space-saving packaging, which might be considered good design in its own right.
