Ricoh Endorses “Caring for Climate: The Business Leadership Platform” of the United Nations Global Compact
Acting as a participating company of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, on June 22, 2007, Ricoh endorsed “Caring for Climate: The Business Leadership Platform.”
With this endorsement, Ricoh demonstrates its leadership and sense of responsibility as a global company, showing the consistency of the posture with its own active commitment to environmental management.
“Caring for Climate: The Business Leadership Platform” is a statement prepared by a policy committee comprised of representatives of civil society and companies convened by the Global Compact, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). The platform states that companies need to recognize and take action toward climate problems.
Ricoh announced its participation in the Global Compact in 2002. Advocated by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the Global Compact was launched in 2000. Participating companies from around the world are asked to act as global citizens in supporting and putting into practice 10 universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.
