Ricoh Receives Green Technology Innovator Award
On December 7, Ricoh was awarded as a Green Technology
Innovator by "the Climate Group," an NPO dedicated to advancing business and
government leadership on climate change*.
The awards, which are to give recognition to "Low Carbon Leaders," are granted to companies, national governments, local governments, individuals, and so forth that are addressing global warming problems. It was the first granting of the awards.
Ricoh was ranked fourth in the Green Technology Innovators' category because
of its proven advances in the realization of an energy-efficient photocopier
with a warm-up time of 10 seconds or shorter.
First place went to Toyota, which developed a hybrid car, while GE ranked second for producing a high-efficiency wind power plant. Intel took third place with an energy-efficient CPU for personal computers. Siemens ranked fifth for developing energy-efficient jet engines.
