Ricoh Asia Industry Jointly Hosts "2006 Tree-Planting Program for All People" in Shenzhen City
The "2006 Tree-Planting Program for All People" was held on March 12, which is Tree-Planting Day in China, under the joint sponsorship of the Shenzhen City Government and Shenzhen Tree-Planting Foundation. About 6,000 trees were planted in Shenzhen Central Park by 4,000 people from 97 major companies in the Shenzhen area.
In recognition of its positive social contributions in the Shenzhen area and efforts for environmental preservation, Ricoh Asia Industry was allowed to jointly host the event representing the participating companies.
At the opening ceremony, President Ito made a speech in Chinese as the representative of all participating companies. He also joined the stone monument unveiling ceremony and planting of a memorial tree by honored guests, along with leaders of the city government.
Many of the staff members of Ricoh Elemex Corporation's Fuyong Plant, including President Ogura, also participated in the tree planting. Two hundred and ninety people from Ricoh Asia Industry and Ricoh Elemex planted the largest number of trees, 256 in total.
