Launch of Tanjong Pagar Ricoh Park in Singapore
On October 21, an event was held to celebrate the opening of Tanjong Pagar Ricoh Park in Singapore's Central Business District.
This pocket park was jointly launched by the National Parks Board (NParks) and Ricoh Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. (RA), Ricoh's Asia-Pacific regional headquarters. This project was driven by the Government of Singapore, who asked corporate entities for their support. The pocket park will serve as a green refuge where office workers and visitors can rest and relax in a lush garden setting.
The opening ceremony drew the attendance of Dr. Leong Chee Chiew, Chief Operating Officer of the NParks and Mr. Charles Ho, Chairman of the Garden City Fund (GCF), as well as Katsumi Yoshida, General Manager of the International Marketing Group at Ricoh Company Ltd. and Shuzo Saito, Managing Director of RA.
Landscaped with lush greenery and colorful plants, the park features 20 Ricoh-signature benches, which were made from recycled toner cartridges.
Development of the park cost S$700,000, including Ricoh's contribution of S$200,000 through the Garden City Fund*.
* The Garden City Fund was incorporated to supplement the growth and development of Singapore's garden city.
