Ricoh Asia Pacific Supports Singaporean Government Greening Project
Ricoh Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (RA), or the Asia-Pacific Regional Sales Headquarters, participated in a park cornerstone-laying ceremony that was held in Singapore on April 12. Trees will be planted in the park under a Singaporean government greening project.
Promoted by the government and the National Parks Board, the Singaporean "Garden City Fund" Greening Project aims to plant trees in major parks in the business district and make them places for recreation and relaxation for the citizens. The government and the ministry have invited private companies to participate in the project, and RA is the first company to support and participate in the project.
"Tanjong Pagar Ricoh Park," where trees are going to be planted under the project, is on a subway station in the center of the business district. The park has not been used as a place for relaxation because it has not had any shade trees or benches.
The total cost of planting trees in the park will be S$600,000 (about ¥40 million), of which one-third, S$200,000, will be paid by Ricoh.
Benches made with materials recycled from collected toner cartridges and having Ricoh's logotype will be placed in the park.
A completion ceremony will be held in October of this year.
