On January 28, Ricoh was selected as one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the world at the World Economic Forum (commonly known as the Davos Conference) that is held every year in Davos, Switzerland with the participation of CEOs of global companies, prime ministers, people involved in the media and other knowledgeable people.
The 100 selected companies included five Japanese companies – Ricoh, Denso Corporation, Toyota Motor, Kuraray, and NTT DoCoMo—as well as 32 British, 20 U.S., 9 German, 7 Swedish and 6 Canadian companies, and 21 companies from other countries
Corporate Knights Inc. of Canada and Innovest Strategic Value Advisors of the U.S., both of which are corporate rating agencies, jointly selected the 100 companies in light of the evaluation results in the three sectors of “strategic governance,” “environmental initiatives” and “human capital/labour relations practices.”
Prime Minister Blair of Britain, President Chirac of France, Prime Minister Schroeder of Germany, and former U.S. President Clinton also participated in the Davos Conference.
