Ricoh's Environmental Web site wins the Eco Web Prize.
On March 27, Ricoh won the Eco Web Prize in the "Popularly Selected Eco Web Prize 2" organized by the Ecology Symphony.
Now in its second year, the Popularly Selected Eco Web Prize is given to business enterprises and organizations that show excellence in environmental homepages, as well as environmental reports as communication tools in environmental management. The prize is given to help promote communication in this area through the improvement of the Eco Web and building a "green alliance" (cooperation between business and consumers) for development of a sustainable society. The entries for this year numbered 200. Ricoh won the top prize after a rigorous screening.
The selection was made by some 50 experts, including university professors and corporate environmental officers. After selecting 10 finalists, the winner was selected by voting. Key points in the judging were content of information disclosure, ease in access and understanding, and communication distinctive of the web.
In the screening, Ricoh's environmental homepage rated markedly higher for use and update frequency, winning the prize for "easy in understanding home page categories."
Besides Ricoh, Sony, AEON and Matsushita Electric Industrial won division awards.
