Ricoh announces participatation in "e-mission 55"

On July 9, Ricoh Company, Ltd. signed the proclamation to agree to paticipate in the business intiative activities of the e-mission 55 group, which is a group that aims to tackle climate change by adhering to the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. e-mission 55 plans to request political decisions from countries participating at COP6, held from July 16 in Bonn, Germany, to adhere to the Kyoto Protocol. As of July 4, 2001, 96 companies worldwide had agreed and the number will surely increase.

e-mission 55 was established by German Telecom on May 28, 2001. e-mission 55 consists of "emission", "mission" and "55". 55 is derived from the emission standard of 55% required from industrialized countries to ratify the Kyoto Protocol of 1997.
