Problem reading a disc that you wrote

QUESTION
Writing on a DVD-R disc with my DVD recorder completed successfully, and can be played back without a problem. But the same disc cannot be played by a different DVD recorder/drive.

ANSWER

Check the following points.

  • Check if the DVD-R disc has been finalized. You will be able to see the current mode of the disc with the DVD recorder.
  • In order to read a DVD-R disc that was created by a different recorder, the disc needs to be finalized by the original recorder.
  • If the finalized disc is not being recognized by a DVD drive, the DVD drive may not support DVD-R disc.
For details on how to finalize a disc, consult the manuals of your DVD recorder.
