Update method for Windows95
Upgrade Procedure
1.
Prepare one empty, formatted floppy disk
2.
Copy the downloaded file to an empty directory, and run RWT240WS.EXE to extract the contents.
| 3. | Copy the files created in step 2. To the floppy disk.
This creates a Firmware Download disk. -File List- Running RWT240WS.EXE should create the following files: FDLASP32.EXE/ PROG.DEF/ SS240803.BIN/ JHISTORY.TXT/ EHISTORY.TXT |
| 4. | The following hardware is required: |
- Host computer (PC-AT compatible, OS:Windows95)
- SCSI Controller Card (Adaptec AHA-1510, 152x, 2940 and 3940 only. Can not use other SCSI cards.)
| 5. | Connect the host computer to the MP6200S, then after making the following settings, start Windows95 on the host computer.
If the drive is the last device at the end of the SCSI bus, the terminating resistance must be enabled. |
6.
Downloading the Firmware to the drive.
| 1) | Insert the Firmware Download floppy into the host computer floppy drive. |
| 2) | Double-click on My Computer. |
| 3) | Insert the firmware download floppy disk, and double-click on the floppy disk drive. |
| 4) | Double-click on the file FDLASP32.EXE. |
| 5) | After executing step 4) the following message appears in the MS-DOS prompt window. (the following assumes the CD-RW drive is SCSI ID 1): CD-R Drive Firmware Update Program for SCSI Ver.1.10 Copyright (C) RICOH Co., Ltd. 1996, 1997 Host Adapter detected. Host Adapter is "aic78xx ASPI for WIN32" Checking the drive... SCSI ID : 0 Cannot find the device. SCSI ID : 1 Drive is "RICOH MP6200S 1.00" : : SCSI ID : 7 Device is "Host Adapter aic78xx" It rewrites the program of the following device. DEVICE ID : 1 "RICOH MP6200S 1.00" Hit any key.(Execute = Y key , Next device = Other key) |
| 6) | By pressing "Y" you can select the MP6200S with a SCSI ID of 1. To select for the SCSI ID a different MP6200S press any key other than "Y". When the required MP6200S is selected, press "Y". Change update-mode...
Device is "RICOH Program Loader 3 2.00" Unlocking the program loader protection. Current flash ROM date is : : Rewriting the program. This program rewrites the firmware of the CD-R drive. This is no further warning... Are you sure? Hit any key. (Cancel = ESC key) |
| 7) | Press Enter to write the new firmware program to the drive. The following messages appear. Erasing the contents of the flash ROM.
Reading the file xxxxxxxx.bin Completed reading the firmware from the file... Loading the program to the flash ROM. |
| 8) | Several seconds after the above message appears, the following is displayed if the process was successful. Firmware update completed.

| 9) | When you shut down Windows 95 and power on again, the firmware download procedure is completed. Regarding the changed record of firmware, please refer to EHISTORY.TXT |
Download of a firmware is an end above.
NOTE-
If the firmware download does not complete correctly, check the following items.
If the firmware download does not complete correctly, check the following items.
| 1. | Is the terminating resistor installed correctly? |
| 2. | Is the SCSI cable length not more than 6m? |
| 3. | Select Start / Settings / Control Panel / System / Performance, and check that the 32-bit indication appears. If the 32-bit indication does not appear, the SCSI card or disk controller settings may be incorrect. Contact the supplier of the computer or SCSI card.
If after checking items 1.to 3.above the firmware download still does not complete correctly, contact the supplier of the MP6200S. |
