Ricoh Industrie France S.A.S. (RIF), a manufacturing subsidiary, is engaged in community-based activities in Alsace in France, including contributions to support research institutions and universities. The area has had significant industrial and cultural relations with Japan since the late 19th century.
•Supporting CEEJA (Centre Européen d'Etudes Japonaises d'Alsace)
CEEJA, founded by the Regional Council of Alsace (Conseil Régional d'Alsace), universities, etc., offers quality information on Japanese culture to researchers, educators, Japanese-language instructors, and artists from various parts of Europe, as well as to local people. RIF supports CEEJA through annual human exchanges and donations, which are used for various projects and activities carried out by CEEJA. RIF's support has been greatly appreciated by the parties involved.
•Ricoh employees giving lectures at local universities
Employees of RIF give lectures at universities on various subjects, based upon the knowledge and experience they have obtained through their work. For example, at a university in Colmar, they reported the details and results of the Ricoh Group's continuous environmental conservation activities. At Upper Alsace University (Université de Haute-Alsace) in Mulhouse, employees lectured on industrial waste and regulations for environmental protection in France's industries. Lectures were also given on "Controlling Management Quality through Product Quality" and similar subjects at University Louis Pasteur (Université Louis Pasteur) in Strasbourg. Students offered many words of praise and thanks for the lectures, which incorporated many and varied past examples.
