Message from the CISO

Through our activities for Information Security, Ricoh Group would like to contribute to make a more secure society accompanied with higher awareness and stronger ethics.

I have no doubt that no business could exist without any information. It is vital in our time to respond to the rapid change by gathering the information quickly, which we need, assess it, and then use it for stronger management.
Ricoh’s management philosophy describes its mission as, “To constantly create new value for the world at the interface of people and information.” In other words, we operate at the heart of the information business. Safe and reliable use of information requires strength in information security. Beyond simply maintaining good security, however, we also believe that information must be used based on a sense of corporate values and ethics.

When I visit customers and business partners, they often ask, “What actions does Ricoh take on information security?” I tell them about the activities that all people in our Ricoh Group Family undertake daily, globally, and this impresses them.
I feel that while every customer understands that they must take information security seriously, they seem to have a difficult time instilling the need for such actions in all areas of their organization.

In achieving information security at the Ricoh Group, the key is daily and voluntary action. If one surface of a vessel is lower than the rest, that’s where water will spill out. The same principle applies to our activities. If each and every one of us could maintain a certain level of knowledge and ethics in our daily actions, we can create a safe and reliable corporate body. Our mission is to exercise this activity as Ricoh Group and “contribute” to providing our customers with many good examples.
