As for both portable and non-portable devices, electrical equipment are requested to minimise current consumption to save energy.
Therefore electrical equipment activate only specific circuits depending on the operating mode of the application. A common solution was to use a discrete FET as a switch to shutdown the specific circuit blocks, however additional features for protection are needed.
