The R5C841 (1slot)/ 842 (2 slots) is a single chip
solution
offering PCI functions (PCI bus bridge to a PC Card,
an
IEEE1394, an SD Card, a Memory Stick, and an xD Picture Card)
with an ExpressCard (USB Interface type) switch.
In addition to the functions of our existing
products
(R5C821/822), support for an xD Picture Card has been
implemented into the R5C841/842. Therefore, adopting
the
R5C841/842 makes it possible to support almost all the Flash Memory Cards currently in the market.
The RICOH PC Card/Flash Memory Card/IEEE1394
Controller
series has got a variable lineup with different slot counts and
packages. The R5C841/842 can share a PCB (printed circuit
board) with the R5C811/812.

| The R5C841/842 has a 2-port 1394 Cable Interface, whose transfer rates are 100/200/400
Mbps, and independent high-capacity FIFO buffers and DMA engines. Also, the R5C841/842 supports two types of
data transfer: Asynchronous and Isochronous. |
| Due to the originally developed hardware design, power consumption during Suspend
mode has been
drastically
reduced. |
